Each painting begins with sweeping black strokes — broad, fast, instinctive. From there the composition emerges on its own terms. Areas fill in as the work asks for them. Some pieces receive layered white strokes on top, pulling form back out of the dark.
The process is not forced into a single session. A painting might be finished in an afternoon or left for days, returned to only when something new wants to be built on top of what's already there.
